Jesus instructions..

These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

Mark 6:8-11

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my insights on the above gospel.

Simplicity. Obedience. Discernment . These are the three things I believe is what is contained in the above instructions of Christ to his disciples when the sending off  took place. These instructions are also meant for us as we begin to follow Jesus. Following Jesus meant not only saving your soul but also saving the souls of others by introducing Jesus to them. We were called not only for ourselves but so that we may part ourselves to others so that they may hear God’s calling.

Simplicity. We found simplicity in this material world when we make Jesus the center of our life. Complexities in life was brought about by the mundane things this world offers. If material wealth, and earthly things are the focus of our lives, then we can not say Jesus is the center of our lives because from the perspective of God, life is simple. It’s simple as saying “Yes” to God everyday. Trusting Him that “Yes” His will shall prevail. Be a simple soul who trusts in the perfect wisdom of God.

Discernment. In our gospel-spreading activities, we would encounter, people who are not keen to accepting the word of God (yet or not at all) we share with them. Sometimes, these are the people who are close to us like our family,  our friends,  people we know and knew us. We share them first the good news of the Lord because they are close to our hearts and we love them. But most oftentimes, we are rejected or taken for granted. As followers of Christ, we can not convince these people and become too pushy with them to accept and listen to the word of God. We can only proclaim them the truth about God’s word. Those who did not care, we just to have lift them up to God.

Obedience. At some point in our lives upon knowing Christ,  we have to step out and do what God has called us to do. Probably to start a ministry, to invite some lost souls, to learn more about Jesus and share the learnings to others, to give and assist poor individuals. Just go, follow your calling, it’s a leap of faith. God Be With You.
