“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, and exalt and honor the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.”Daniel 4:37
Peace and good to all.
If I may share my personal reflection on the above passage from the Book of Daniel.
Pride before fall.
This is the story of Nebuchadnezzar, the once great king of Babylon. He was a respected, powerful, and great ruler, blessed with riches and power. But with all the abundance and riches in life, he allowed his foolish pride to rule his life and failed to acknowledge God who has given him all those blessings. As a result, he fell from grace to grass. All his riches, power, success, his throne, were all taken away from Him.
The story of Nebuchadnezzar, tells us how the Lord brought down an arrogant king by removing him from his kingdom and made him look, dwell and eat among the wild animals. He has lost his senses, he lived and behaved just like the wild animals in the forest. Because of his pride, he became a source of humiliation. All this happened to him, so he would learn to humble himself before God.
And, what is the important lesson can we learn from the life of Nebuchadnezzar? That, we should not allow our foolish pride to rule our lives. That, anything and everything that we have, any and all possessions that we enjoy, success and knowledge that we acquired, all of them, are given by God as His blessings and we should give God credit for all of them. He who has the power to give has the power to take.
We should learn from the story of Nebuchadnezzar in order not to fall in the same mistake. A mistake that cost him too much. But how? Sometimes, wealth, success and power make us forget who we really are. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Remember, we are children of God and our good Lord desires to protect us and keep us away from the failures of life. We just have to put God in the center of our lives by establishing strong bonds with Him, worshipping Him all the days of our life. Because if God is in the center of our lives, we would always be guided by Him. He will always remind us to be humble when pride sets in.
Let us humble ourselves before God and He will bless us with peace, abundance and prosperity. Pride, this could lead us to destruction and downfall, let’s avoid this. Remember, God has the power to humble those who walk in pride. God be with us all.
