The power of God’s name..

“Save me, O God, by your name;  vindicate me by your might.

Hear my prayer, O God;  listen to the words of my mouth.” 🙏

Psalm 54:1-2

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my personal reflection on the above passage from the Book of Psalm.

It is a simple verse, a simple prayer but full of substance and with urgency of tone. To simplify more, it means: “Lord, save me.”

It is a prayer for deliverance, a call to God, invoking the power of His name, that we be set free or removed from a bad situation we are in at the moment. It is an acceptance of our limited strength and the recognition of the power of God’s name and might who can save us. It is a recognition of our dependence to God.

Human life is always subject to storms. No one is exempted to the storms of life.  Some have been engulfed by the high waves caused by it and perished. Some, however, have called and believed in the power of the name of God and of His strength, for them to be delivered from and be saved, and indeed they were saved,  as God has walked with them and quieted the wildest storm of their lives. Yes, these people are called believers of Christ, believers of the Son of God.  These people believed not in their own strength but in the strength and might of their anchor, who is Jesus.

Believers are gifted by God of faith in Him such that, when they pray for deliverance, they anticipate that they will be saved and delivered. There is anticipation, in other words. Why? Because they trust that their prayers would be heard by God, that their prayers would reached God, and, this is what you call, faith in action.

While there are times that it would take sometime for our prayers to be answered, we should remind ourselves that God is faithful. God chooses His own timing in answering our prayers, and as to why, it remains a mystery, I cannot fathom  God’s thoughts,  but I know and I believe that God answers the prayers of you and I, and, that is enough. Remember, however,  that in the midst of your life’s storm, stand secure in God’s watch and hang on to His promise that, He keeps on perfect peace those who trust in Him (Isaiah 26:3). God be with you.
