God’s majestic holiness

“Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

Exodus 15:11

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my thoughts on the above Bible passage.

Notice how Moses captured  the breadth and the depth in describing the holiness of God?  Majestic.

Yes, majestic holiness, which means  an exalting and great holiness that separates or differs God from all of us, from His creation. When you go deeper, it means that God is absolutely pure, unstained and untarnished of any shadow or hint of sin.

When I picture this in my head, I see God shining in crown and in glory, so pure, so white, full of heaven’s light, beaming in purity that just a sight towards His direction makes me cry, bow down, in prostrate, in humility before Him, asking for His forgiveness for the all the sins I have committed. This is how I picture the majestic holiness of God and how mind blowing the experience to be near Him, — even by just an imagination from my mind, it is like seeing what is real but unseen. I praise God for this.

Why do we need to know the importance of the majestic holiness of God? Because we cannot understand God’s mercy and forgiveness until we first seek to understand His holiness. And,  while God did not expect us to be all knowing like Him, he commanded us to be holy. God actually commanded us to pursue holiness without which we cannot see the Lord.  And we cannot do holiness  nor pursue it without Christ who is Himself holy. Holiness is not the way to Jesus but Jesus is the way to holiness. And without understanding God’s holiness, we will not understand God himself.
