Of vigilance, prayer and the Word of God…

“Be on guard; don’t immerse yourselves in a life of pleasure and drunkenness and worldly cares and that day catch you unexpectedly, like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth.

Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” 🙏

Luke 21:34-36

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my insights on the above gospel of our Lord.

Vigilance and Prayer, these are the two things Jesus has told us to have in order to be prepared when we meet Him again.

As believers of Christ, we know that based from the  scriptures, the Lord could come at any moment and we ought to be ready. We always have to be on guard for the return of the Son of Man could occur or happen at anytime.

The return of the Son of Man for those who believe in Him is something to look forward to with great anticipation for this would mean that we would be able to finally see and be with our saviour whom we have been waiting for so long.

To the unbelievers, this would mean, however,  a calamity,  destruction, something scary and gruesome to think about. And why, do they think that way, in the first place? Because  despite the warnings given in the scriptures, the unbelievers cannot give up their worldly life, they live differently and irresponsibly, without regard to our Lord. Such a pity.

We believers, are not immune to this. Temptations and the deceiving luster of worldly life may lead us to live irresponsibly. When we start to take our eyes from Jesus, we tend to forget His soon return, our values change, our priorities shift, and soon we live irresponsibly like how unbelievers live their lives.  That’s why Jesus tells us to PRAY.

Prayer and God’s word would be our weapons to fight distractions and freedom from worldly desires. Pray that we may be able to fight off all this worldly distractions. Remember always that we can only remain faithful to God through incessant prayer and through the Word of God.

I believe that when we are in great anticipation in the coming of our Lord; when we are full of zest to see Him and looking forward to stand before Him, when we have the confidence to stand before Him, then we know that we are indeed in constant connection with our Lord.

Otherwise, the second coming of our Lord will be something we would not want to talk about nor even think about, because we know that  we are unprepared for that moment to come due to our unbelief and of being weak to  give up our worldly desires.

Remember this:

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world” (1 John 2:15-16).

Are you prepared to meet Jesus?

May God be with you.

The Seal of the Living God..

“Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb.” 🙏

Revelation 7: 2-4, 9

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my personal reflection on the above passage from the Book of Revelation.

If there is  a mark of the beast, believers of Christ need not worry, for there is the seal of the living God. The seal that brings salvation to the righteous and true-hearted to God, the seal of the living God, the seal of Christ.

But what is the seal of the living God?

Jesus Christ, himself, is the seal of the living God. The scripture is clear on this, thus John 6:27, says:

“Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”

This means that when we trust in Jesus, when we believe in Him and in His gospel of salvation, we become possessors of the seal of God, we get to be marked in Him with a seal and this is made manifest when He sends us the Holy Spirit to dwell into our hearts. When the Holy Spirit in dwells in our hearts,  we become sealed with the Holy Spirit, we, therefore, bear the seal of the living God.

This could be the reason why as believers of Christ, you get to feel this sense of completeness, peace and security because  we know that we can sustain any wickedness and evil in this transitory world because we bore the seal of the living God. God’s children are sealed by Him. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

What does it mean when we bear the seal of the living God?

When a document bears a seal, it gives the document the character of authenticity and legitimacy. For humans, when we bear the seal of the living God, I believe it gives us the character of being an authentic and legitimate children of God, for not everyone is a child of God.

Bearing the seal of God make us identified also with God, that we are owned by God, that we belong in Christ and everything in Him belongs to us too. This means that our redemption and eternity are secured; that our sins have already been forgiven, because we are marked and sealed by the living God.

You may want to ask yourself, have you received the seal of the living God?

God be with you.

My Lord comforts me…

“Who will rise up for me against the wicked?  Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” 🙏

Psalm 94: 16-19

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my personal reflection on the above passage from the Book of Psalm.

When faced with a problem our first instinct is almost always to worry. We get uneasy, nervous or get scared especially when confronted with an event or something with an uncertain outcome. We have suddenly forgotten that when we are with God, we should worry no more. Faith. Have faith in Him who is the rock of your life.

The above verse is an assurance that God is faithful, that we should not give in to that uneasiness, to that worry or that unknown fear. When worry is too strong for us to take,  have faith that God will extend his helping hand and, even when death is imminent, let’s remind ourselves that we are not alone. We have God, we have Jesus with us. God through the Holy Spirit will comfort us, He will tame our worried hearts. And, when we feel like we are slipping away, call on Him, for His love will save and support us. Praise to you my Lord and my God.

Establishing a relationship with God, thru His Son Jesus, is the key in everything. God will never force us to have a relationship with Him, but if we invite Him in our lives, if we make Him the stronghold of our lives, we will enjoy that kind of peace that no one and nothing in this world can give.

I was in the darkness once, but I did not allow my soul to dwell in silence. I accepted Jesus when the first opportunity came knocking in my heart. I accepted His help and, then believe me,  I no longer feel that emptiness that I had before.  He gave me peace of mind. He calmed my soul and I praise Him for that.

God be with us all.

Have you disowned Jesus?

“I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.

And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” 🙏

Luke 12:8-10

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my insights on the above gospel of our Lord.

Have you been guilty of denying Jesus in public? All of us I believe are at some point in our lives, been guilty of denying Jesus in public. Peter, one of the closest apostles of Jesus, denied Him three times, remember? The shame. The guilt. And, yet, Jesus had forgiven him, because Peter repented.

Remember those days when you could not go out in public and proclaim about the good news of salvation and, of Jesus as your saviour, for fear of being outcasted or attacked as trying to be pious more than the Pope or being branded as corny and, therefore, ashamed? We all had those days, I supposed.  I am guilty of that, I know and I have confessed about it.

And, things have changed.

Perhaps because I am no longer my old me, and I have been one of the living witnesses of Christ mercy, forgiveness and faithfulness.  I am one of the living witnesses of the mystery of the Holy Spirit as manifested in my life daily. Then, I started to get vocal about it. Testifying about Jesus, my Lord and my God.

What does it mean to acknowledge Jesus?

It means to accept Him as the Sovereign God, recognizing His authority and to remain obedient to Him, to make Him rule over your life and be obedient to His teachings and truths.

How about disowning Jesus, what does it mean?

It can be as subtle as ignoring those who say something negative about Jesus, to the most dramatic way of renouncing one’s faith in Jesus in order to preserve a status quo or personal comfort or to avoid persecution.  Oh how admire those faithfuls who chose death in the hands of malefactors instead of renouncing their faith in God. They surely are in the rooms in paradise prepared by Jesus  for His servants in God the Father’s home.

We disown Jesus when we fail to speak up and make it clear where we stand for Him. Even when you have not renounced your faith vocally, remember, God knows what is in your heart, and He would know if you have denied Him or not.

Are you acknowledging Jesus or denying Him before men? Take a stand, my friend.

Be brave to accept Jesus. Be bold to proclaim His promise salvation.

God be with you.

Mammon

“Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?

Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to  enter life, keep the commandments.”

“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.”

Matthew 19:  16-17, 20-22

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my insights on the above gospel of our Lord.

Love for material possession is one of the most effective ways to separate us from God. In Jesus times, it is referred to as mammon, and as we read in the above gospel, it hindered the man who was otherwise moral,  in following Jesus. Why? Because of his love for mammon.

His material possession and his great wealth, has kept this man from following the Lord, it has become his idol which had enslaved his heart.

We all run the same risk when we allow our material wealth or money in particular, to blind our focus and attention to God. How? When we get  preoccupied with money or material wealth, when we allow money to become our master, to become god. When our hunger for money becomes insatiable.

Sometimes, we do not know it, as outwardly, everything look normal, but inwardly, deep inside our hearts, love for money or for our material wealth,  overtakes our love for God.

How do we resolve this?  Remember Matthew 6:33“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”  Always be reminded of this verse, and be it our discipline to seek the Lord first and be preoccupied with His righteousness, faithfulness and goodness.

Always remember that our enemy in the spiritual realm, lurks behind every form of money or material possession that we have. It will tempt us to get preoccupied with our material riches, for purposes of  security, power, success,  and the like. But security , power and successes are all temporary, they will all soon ruin and destroy us if we discard our relationship with God and embrace instead this material wealth.

I have heard of some people who at one point have  these hunger for uncontrolled wealth because of the power and security that money gives, and they are now being tortured mentally, emotionally, and physically. We would not want that to happen to us.

In the light of God’s glory and the continued feeding of the Word of God,  the the luster of money and material wealth in our hearts and eyes will loose. And, remember our antidote when it again attacks us or try to dominate us : “Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God.”

God be with us all.

The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed…

“….The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted  in his field. Though it is  the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Matthew 13: 31-32

Peace and good to all.

How can something small turn out to be the largest? How can something seems to be insignificant turns out to be a nesting place or home to others? How can something as tiny as the mustard seed be able to transform the world?

Let me share my thoughts.

The Kingdom of God is not about power, popularity and wealth. It is about the reign of love. A love the spreads voluntarily, not with force or threat, but that which spreads automatically. It grows in increasing number from person to person. For example, a simple help you give to a person in need,  or just a mere time you spent to listen to someone, though may look little or no big deal at all,  would create a rippling effect sending waves to the people around you, inspiring others to offer their help also to others who are in need, just like what you did.

There are so many needs in this world, and while the needs of people vary from simple to complex,  today’s gospel sends an invitation to us,  followers of Christ, to plant our own  little mustard seed. How? By extending  help to those who need our help, it could be financial, physical, emotional or spiritual help, let’s help. Let others see Jesus in us.

Sometimes our intention to extend our help was hampered by the thinking that what we can give is only small, insignificant to the need, or we are embarrass because we cannot give money and that is what is needed at the time being. Do  not think that way, my friends, just be who you are,  a  prayer offered to someone is as valuable as money help or physical help. A hug, inspiring words, defending someone who cannot defend himself, sharing our talent and knowledge to the one in need, saving a soul and bringing him to Jesus, are some of the mustard seed that we can plant.  And, in all these deeds that we do, we should not overthink whether what we do  would have a dent in this world, for God is the soil that would make these good seed grow. The one you helped today maybe the person who will be helping another one in need tomorrow, and so on and so forth, showing a reign of love.

Like a weaned child, I am content..

“My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content”

Psalm 131:1-2

Peace and good to all.

If my share my thoughts on the above passage from the Book of Psalm.

Generally, people wanted great things for themselves. Power, popularity, material wealth, we all wanted them and to some, they even wanted immortality.  Except for immortality, I too have actually desired them all or at least thought of them to have, but that was before, when I was slumbering.

But now I have awoken from my spiritual sleep. And, I have submitted everything to Him who has calmed my heart. Jesus has calmed the wave and storm in my heart and in my head, He penetrated my soul. He gave me peace. I cannot ask for more. I am contented for I know I have Jesus and He is with me. Whenever I am weary, I call on Him. And, I worry no more.

There were times that out of curiosity I asked God as to what are His plans for me? But it was a query of humility, for I know  that He has plans for all of us. God’s infinite thoughts is greater than man’s limited ability to comprehend them. Hence, the need to completely  surrender to Him, to trust Him, to have faith in His superior wisdom and provision.

I know that there will be times when we would feel restless, anxious on what to happen to us tomorrow;  of what this pandemic would bring to us and to our family. Or, because we  are afflicted of certain illness, we are worried if we can still make another day; if God will continue to watch over us, if God will continue to provide for us, if God will continue to take care of us. The good news of the gospel my friends is to submit to the will of God. “Not my will Lord, but yours be done.” Trust Him, He will provide, He will take care of you, He will make you live longer, He will calm your restless heart.

Only God decides whether we live or die..

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  your works are wonderful,  I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made  in the secret place,  when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Psalm 139:13-16

Peace and good to all.

If my share my insights on the above passage from the Book of Psalm.

We are God’s creation. We are the works of God, and, we are created in God’s image and likeness. From our conception, to the day we are born, to our manhood and till our death, God know’s everything because He created us.

God is the originator of our life. From the moment we were secretly and passionately produced by our parents, when we were still a little life in our mother’s womb,  God knows who we are and what we will be when we are born. God owns every human being’s right over human life,  from the moment of conception until they are born. It is so unfortunate, however, that many times man wants to play God and determines for himself/herself what to do with the life of the unborn child. Hence, the abortion – the inward parts of a little life formed by our Lord and wove within his/her mother’s womb, is killed by a man thru abortion, putting no value on the life of the unborn, showing no reverence and respect to God, his creator. Man has forgotten that it is not he who creates but God.

God has the ownership rights over every human life, thus,  who are we to take our own life. Even before we were conceived, God has a purpose for us. He decided to create us for a purpose and that is definitely not to take our own life. It is God who creates not us, hence, we do not have anyright to take it back. God gave this life to us, therefore, only God has the right to take it away from us.

Suicide is almost always due to depression. This demon of depression kills our mind, kills our heart, kills our body, then kills our soul. Let it be not forgotten that we have God, the creator of life, we have Jesus,  whom we can turn to, to help us fight this demon in our heads and hearts who want us to take our own life.

Let it be not forgotten that God’s mercy and understanding are so great, so vast and beyond human understanding that no matter how sinful we are,  that our enemy would taunt us and would want us to take our own life ‘to atone” for it, we should not yield for it, we should not listen to the taunt of the enemy. Remember that  nothing can separate us from the love of God which is beyond measure, we just have to call HIM, call Jesus, ask for His mercy and compassion and He will help you out from the pit where you are at present. And, in Jesus, you will have new life, a peaceful life,  without you taking your own life. That is God’s mercy and compassion. God is the author of life, the author of your life, of my life and of eternal life. Be with Jesus who gives light and life.
