A cheerful giver

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Peace and good to all.

If my share my insights on the above Bible verse.

The verse is about giving. It is about generosity. But as the verse says, giving and being generous, must come from the heart and not by way of force or obligation. It is voluntary in other words, the one that comes from the heart. Giving is an act of worship to God.  Through giving,  we praise God for the blessings we receive from Him and we do share these blessings to others, so they may have a part of God’s  blessings to us.

It does not matter what our position in life is, it does not matter how much  or what we give, what is important in the eyes of God is,  when we give,  it comes from our heart. Remember, God sees and looks on the heart, He knows the heart.

Giving should not also be motivated by other motives especially of selfish motive, except to share God’s blessings or to help others in need. Sometimes, man gives in order to show off, to get something in return, or to be known or become popular. It should not be like that. We give because that is what our heart desires; because we want to worship God; because we want to connect with God’s people. For if that is purpose why we give, even though we are not asking from God, He will bless us more so we can share more His blessings to others.

To those given much, much is also expected. If we are so much blessed in life, are we happy to just enjoy these possessions God gave us? Believe me, you won’t be happy unless you share your blessings with others particularly those in need. Selfishness has never become a source of happiness. For when we are given much blessings, it just mean that God has given those blessings not only for us but for our stewardship to His children, in order that we can take care of God’s children.

There are times that man are too proud and too selfish to share his blessings to others; he is forgetting that whatever possessions he may have are all God’s blessings and meant to be shared to others. We have to be reminded that when God gives, He can also take away. I praise the Lord for all the things He has given to me and that I pray that I many not forget to share these blessing to others.
