Psalm 31

Psalm 31

“In you, O Lord, I have taken my refuge.
Let me never put to shame;
Deliver me in your righteousness.
Turn your ear to me;
Come quickly to my rescue;
Be my rock of refuge,
A strong fortress to save me.
Since you are my rock and my fortress,
For the sake of your name,
Lead and guide me.”

Peace and good to all .

Psalm 31 is the most basic prayer in asking for God’s help. It is also the most basic way of saying you have lifted to God all your worries.

I am memorizing it as I would want it to be one of my memory verses. And, as I was starting to write the verse in order to memorize the same, I was directed to my notepad and of course directed eventually to this long lost blog of mine.

Psalm 31 struck me as it was the favorite verse in one of the movie series that I have watched. And, i fell in love with wordings of the Bible verse, for it is what I was actually trying to tell God everyday of my life. That, you O Lord is my rock and my refuge, lead and guide me.

God is my refuge..

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,  my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare  and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;  his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side,  ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.”

Psalm 91:2-7

Peace and good to all.

If my share my thoughts on the above passage from the Book of Psalm.

This passage is indeed a prayer for protection. It is a loaded gun against both the seen and unseen enemy. It is an invocation of God’s power over our lives, that no enemy can come against us and all spell or curse of the enemy against us will backfire at them in Jesus name.

When Jesus is with us, who can be against us. The fowler’s snare or traps set by our enemy for us to fall, the deadly pestilence like the pandemic that the world is experiencing now, we can all be saved from all these, when we are with Jesus. In Jesus in whom we trust.

The passage also speaks of terror of night, arrow by day, pestilence that roam in the darkness and plaque that destroys in the day. These are all brought by the unseen enemy and Jesus is our only hope to be saved from all these. How? By always wearing the armor of God: the helmet of salvation, the sandals of peace, the breastplate of righteousness and most of all the sword of the word of God. Psalm 91 is the word of God when we need protection from both seen and unseen enemy, from  the devil that is lurking around ready to devour our flesh. This prayer found in Psalm 91 when prayed with faith, we will be protected in Jesus name.
