“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.”
Colossians 2: 2-4
Peace and good to all.
If I may share my personal reflection on the above passage from the Book of Colossians.
God is the only source of true wisdom and knowledge. All that we are, all that we have and all that we know, came from Him.
Generally, it is our perception that we gain knowledge and wisdom thru studies, education, experience and maturity. These days, just the click of your mouse, and you will have an instant access on the information that you need. But with all these information, and ready to eat “knowledge”, still many of us are longing for peace, for understanding of what life is.
Some who have prolong sadness, anxiety and depression and who have turned to human wisdom to resolve it, were advised to take medicines, to reprogram their mindfulness, to listen to some kind of music, get involve to a different hobby, or to find other belief system or philosophies that would fit their needs. The bottom line in these recommendations is for them to find an answer or light to their lives. A spiritual problem or issues that made by man as a personality or psychological matter. A spiritual issue which cannot be solved by the wisdom of man.
They fail to understand that man because of his sin, he would not be able to understand and fully comprehend and experience the joy all God’s blessings to him in this world. Sin separates him from the glory of God’s creation that no matter how smart or intelligent he may be, unless he repent and accept Christ as his saviour, he will not be able to have that wisdom that only God thru Christ can give.
Blessed are those who truly believe in the Son of God, because they have the Word of God where they can anchor their confidence and dependence, the same being the only source of wisdom. Blessed are the true believers of Christ for they have the Holy Spirit that in dwells in them who enlightens them about spiritual truth. Blessed are those who believe in Christ, for Jesus is faithful to His promise of peace: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid, “ John 14:27.
My friends, we should not trust in our own knowledge, intelligence, cleverness or ability, for all these will lead us to nowhere. God Himself is the source of wisdom and knowledge. We can experience wisdom by being with Christ in the daily things of our life. This world offers different kinds of wisdom, beliefs, philosophies, teachings, etc.. Do not be fooled, do not follow the wisdom of the world. We have to come to Christ, for only in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. God be with you.
