“The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!”Matthew 10:24-25
Peace and good to all.
If I may share my insights on the above gospel.
Who is your master? Who is you teacher? Who it the head of your home?
The Lord God Jesus is my master, my teacher and the head of my home, therefore, I should follow Him and be like Him. I will imitate Him and be Christlike. But how? And, why? Let me share.
How do we imitate Christ? Start by Bible reading, start reading your Bible daily and you can take your cues from there, on how to act, think, decide and feel the Jesus way, because in the Bible Jesus would speak directly to your heart. When we read the Bible with prayer and desire to know Jesus, we change, we grow spiritually, we mimic what Jesus does in the gospel, we follow His words, we remember His teachings, we become more like Christ.
Why do we need to follow and imitate Christ? Because He said so. “Follow me!”, Jesus said that, remember? Jesus wants us to learn from Him, to be His students, because no matter what we say, the life of Jesus is the pattern of our lives. If we want Him to be the center of our lives, we follow Him and imitate Him. I know it’s hard for all of us because of our sinful nature, our weakness, our lack of faith, that is why we need to pray and trust Him, we need to read His words as written in the Bible and we should read the Bible, daily. Yes, daily. You may notknow it my friends, but when we read the Bible, God shows up. He speaks to us through the verses in the Bible, for us to gain a deeper understanding of who He is, for us to be guided on what to do. Jesus is our teacher, we are His students.
Jesus is the head of our home. He is my constant companion, my listener, the voice in my heart, the instructor in my head. He is the unseen protector of my son, wherever my son goes, Jesus is with Him, and so He is with me too, in our home, in my car, in my office and wherever I go. He is the head of our home because I invited Him to be so, because without Him, I am nothing, we are nothing. Jesus is also waiting to be the head of your homes. He is just waiting to be invited into your lives. When Jesus takes over our lives, He exceeds our expectations and imaginations. Believe in Him.
