“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Peace and good to all.
If I may share my insights on the quoted gospel of our Lord.
The gospel is about the continuing invitation of Jesus for us to come to Him, to be with Him, to rest in Him, especially in moments when we are heavily laden of troubles, problems, illness or of the resulting effect of restlessness from the bondage of sin.
It is a continuing invitation of Jesus to the broken hearted, to the oppressed, to the burdened sinner, to those who are lost, to those experiencing fatigue in their lives whether physically or spiritually. The invitation my friends is for all and has no limitations. Accept His invitation and His promise is to give us rest, to give us peace, not just temporary but eternal. Remember that when God makes a covenant or a promise, He makes true with it. He remembers His promise forever.
But why still the rejection or the non-response of many? Perhaps they were looking for a temporary reprieves only from all their burdens. Perhaps they are guilt-ridden because of their sins. Perhaps they do not understand that it is only with Jesus that they can find peace; perhaps they believe that they are not worthy of Jesus invitation, they are ashamed. Remember my friends, even though Jesus wants us to be spiritually well, even if He wants us to unburden us of all the troubles that we have in this life, we must decide if we want to accept His invitation to touch us, to touch our lives. Accept Him and repent. Choose Jesus who saves.
Accept His invitation and you will find rest for your soul. Accept His invitation and Jesus will change your life. You will enjoy the peace that this world cannot comprehend, that is why it cannot be explained by those who enjoy it, it is a kind of peace that surpasses earthly understanding and you can only have that in a life with Jesus. Accept Jesus invitation.
