“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”John 12:26
Peace and good to all.
If I may share my insights on the above gospel of our Lord.
The above gospel is what is expected from Jesus followers, to those who believe in Him.
The path to Jesus life is hard and with sufferings. There are lots of sacrifices, so many things to give up, like your mundane wants, the appeal of the flesh, the temptations of sins, the lure of the vices and even the appeal of power. You cannot claim to be true Jesus followers when you are still focus on the things of this world. For faithful followers of Jesus divest themselves of the superior authority of their own plans and make Jesus the priority of their lives. But as followers of Jesus they are expected to take the road of suffering, just like how Jesus suffered and as followers we are not expected to be treated better than Jesus – our Master. We have to travel the road He travelled first.
However, as we travel the road to Jesus life which is hard and narrow, we can rely on His promises that He will always be with us and will never leave us alone. That He will be our protector, our light and our shepherd. This is more than enough for us to carry on, I believe.
And, while the path to Jesus life is hard, it is also glorious. This is because as Jesus said in the gospel, His father will honor His servants who follow Him, just as He honours His own Son. And, remember also that Jesus made a promise to those who followed Him: “I go to prepare a place for you that where I am there you may be also.” And, we ought to look forward for that time to come. God be with us always.
