“Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?

Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to  enter life, keep the commandments.”

“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.”

Matthew 19:  16-17, 20-22

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my insights on the above gospel of our Lord.

Love for material possession is one of the most effective ways to separate us from God. In Jesus times, it is referred to as mammon, and as we read in the above gospel, it hindered the man who was otherwise moral,  in following Jesus. Why? Because of his love for mammon.

His material possession and his great wealth, has kept this man from following the Lord, it has become his idol which had enslaved his heart.

We all run the same risk when we allow our material wealth or money in particular, to blind our focus and attention to God. How? When we get  preoccupied with money or material wealth, when we allow money to become our master, to become god. When our hunger for money becomes insatiable.

Sometimes, we do not know it, as outwardly, everything look normal, but inwardly, deep inside our hearts, love for money or for our material wealth,  overtakes our love for God.

How do we resolve this?  Remember Matthew 6:33“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”  Always be reminded of this verse, and be it our discipline to seek the Lord first and be preoccupied with His righteousness, faithfulness and goodness.

Always remember that our enemy in the spiritual realm, lurks behind every form of money or material possession that we have. It will tempt us to get preoccupied with our material riches, for purposes of  security, power, success,  and the like. But security , power and successes are all temporary, they will all soon ruin and destroy us if we discard our relationship with God and embrace instead this material wealth.

I have heard of some people who at one point have  these hunger for uncontrolled wealth because of the power and security that money gives, and they are now being tortured mentally, emotionally, and physically. We would not want that to happen to us.

In the light of God’s glory and the continued feeding of the Word of God,  the the luster of money and material wealth in our hearts and eyes will loose. And, remember our antidote when it again attacks us or try to dominate us : “Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God.”

God be with us all.

Do not worry

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” 🙏

Matthew 6:31-34

Peace and good to all.

If my share my insights on the above gospel.

Are you the kind of person who worries a lot? Do you worry about your future; your children’s future? How about your career, your bills to settle for the month, your health, do you worry about them? Are you such a worrier that you even worry of what to cook for dinner tonight to what you will cook for breakfast tomorrow? Oh, we are all guilty of this. I am still guilty of this — “worry” thing, but I know now how to stop it, I PRAY.

Worry means to give way to anxiety, to allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or problem whether actual or potential. You know what happens to your mind and body when you worry a lot? You are deprived of peace of mind, you are deprived of enjoyment of life . And, you know the antidote for this? It is JESUS.

We worry about so many things, from simple to complex things, till we get so preoccupied with worries that we get to focus on stockpiling wealth consequently forgetting the source of life – GOD. If stockpiling wealth is the goal in man’s life, then he is serving the wrong master.

We worry a lot perhaps  because we have no personal relationship or have a shallow relationship with the great PROVIDER. We lack faith or we have little faith. When we are being attack of worry, we need to pray. Pray to God that He gives us courage to fight this feeling that affects our mind. Pray to Jesus to calm our troubled hearts. Pray to Jesus to give us the ability to meet our needs for He knows what is best for us.

Worry is the work of the devil, it possess our mind in order to be preoccupied with it and forget to seek God first. Worry separates us from our Heavenly Father, from Jesus, because instead of praying and reading the word of God in the morning, we rush up and drive for work, then, we do this again and again. We may not be aware of it, but the devil is trying to enslave us thru worry. Do not be deceived.

Thus, God instructs us not to worry. Have faith in Him who gives instruction. The word of God and our prayer will be our weapon to defeat this worry sent by our unseen enemy who tries to separate us from Jesus. Be warned. When God is with us, who can be against us. No matter how frightening the situation of our life is, when we put God first, it changes everything.

True believers do not worry because they have God. When being fed of envy by the unseen enemy, I say this to myself “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” As a matter of fact, I have memorized  Psalm 23: 1-6 and Psalm  27:1-2, so I can recite them to ward off evil enemies (seen or unseen)  who try to come close to me.
