The kingdom of God is the treasure of your soul..

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine  pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

Matthew 13:44-46

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my insights on the quoted gospel of our Lord.

The gospel speaks about the value of the Kingdom of God. That the Kingdom of God is so infinitely valuable and priceless that one who finds or discovers it, would be willing to stake his all, just to have it.

But why is the Kingdom of God worth that much? Why would one give all that he has once he finds it, why would one be willing to trade-off everything to have or be in the Kingdom of Heaven?

Because everything that a man longs for is in there. Everything that he needs, is in the kingdom. It is not, however, the material or mundane things that give temporary pleasures that would be found there, but that one which  would satisfy the deepest needs of our soul. That unexplainable joy that you feel upon finding it that is eternal and goes directly to the core of your heart. That stillness of your mind, of your heart, of your being, that you will never get from anywhere except in the kingdom. If all these can be found in the kingdom of God, would you not be willing to trade off everything for the sake of the Kingdom of God?  Will you not renounce everything that would draw you away from it?

The Kingdom of God cannot be bought. It is not for sale. It is not a form of exchange too that can be bartered. It is hidden like a treasure as Jesus said. You have to look and search for it like  a trader. And, it is only by the grace of God that one will find it and be brought in it. It is also thru the same grace of God that one will understand the priceless and precious value of to be in the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God is the treasure of a man’s soul. Let’s pray for God’s mercy that we find it or that we be brought in it.

The Wide and Narrow Gate..

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14

Peace and good to all.

If I may share my thoughts on the above quoted gospel.

Jesus in describing the way to enter the Kingdom of God, gave an example of two gates: small gate and wide gate. The way to the small gate has narrow road, while the way to the wide gate has a big or broad road. Also in the wide gate many have chosen to enter it while in the small gate only few has found it. The small gate leads to life while the wide gate leads to destruction. Jesus said, let us choose the narrow gate.  Jesus wants us to choose life over destruction.

Picture yourself standing in a wide and broad road, full of lights and glitters, people laughing, dancing and singing, day and night, but as you move forward, its end is like leading you to a black hole that stinks. Then you see a signboard showing you the direction towards the Kingdom of God, but the path is narrow and steep, and, the gate is small and only few are entering it; there are no glitters of lights at the side of the road, but at the end of it, you can see light and a garden like paradise waiting. What would you choose? Would you choose to stay in the road where you stand at present with all the glitters and everything but a black stinking hole at the end of it; or would you choose the direction towards the Kingdom of God, by leaving all the glitters of life and entering the small gate in order to traverse to a narrow road the leads to paradise? Remember my friends what Jesus said, “enter through narrow gate..”

The two gates here represents two Kingdoms. The kingdom of God and the kingdom of the world. Everyday we are confronted with choices of two kingdoms to enter, that of Christ or of the world. Entering the Kingdom of God is not an easy choice because its not attractive in the eyes of man. This is because the Kingdom of God is not of this world and we need faith to see it, we need the gift of faith to see the tiny or small gate to enter it and it is by the grace of God that we may be able to enter it.

But the kingdom of the world is wide and big. It is appealing. It is very visible in our eyes, because I believe we are already on it before we accepted Christ. We were dead already before we accepted Christ and it was Christ who gave us life, new life. If we want to remain in the path towards the Kingdom of God, let us not leave the narrow road towards it.
