“Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord.
“Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?”Jeremiah 23:28-29
Peace and good to all.
If I may share my personal reflection on the above passage from the Book of Jeremiah.
The word of God as described in the above passage was compared to a fire and a hammer.
A physical fire is characterized with intense heat, which like the Word of God to His faithful believers, they could not contain or hold it, that they have to share it, to preach it, to spread it so that others may know and, hear or read it. That is the effect of the word of God to them.
To the unbelievers, however, the Word of God when shared with them or when spoken to them, the effect is like they are being burned or seared with intense heat, because the Word of God is destructive to the enemy of God. Remember to use the Word of God as our sword in the fight against the evil forces who are ready to devour our flesh. The Word of God when spoken with faith and trust in Jesus, is a destructive fire to the devil.
The word of God is like a hammer too that breaks a rock in pieces.
When you keep on pounding, blowing or hitting even the hardest stone by a hammer, in time, it will break into pieces.
Just like the Word of God, it can soften even an adamant or hard hearted person who were too hard to receive His Words. We know of many who have a stubborn heart in receiving God’s words, let’s keep on sharing with him/her the Word of God, for His Word can break even the unbreakable kind of heart. Soon, it will shatter the arrogance and stubbornness of said person in receiving the Word of God. The Word of God can penetrate the deepest part of man’s heart.
When we share the Word of God to others, we do this in order to glorify God and not to glorify ourselves. And, worry not whether the people with whom you have shared the Word of God will read it or touched by it, because as Isaiah 55:11 says, “…so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” I praise the Lord for this.
